​Majorless



Rules and Regulations

  1. Students may be​ categorized “Out of Department” if they fail to get out of a “Strict Probation” or if they violate academic rules related to a particular Department. UOB will try to provide guidance for such students either by directing them to a more suitable “New Major”, or by giving them the chance to improve their performance and re-join the “Old Major”.

  2. Students will be MAJORLESS for one semester only. They should aim to join “New Major” by the end of this semester.

  3. MAJORLESS students are allowed a maximum of four courses during a regular semester (or 12 credits) which will be selected to suit the “New Major”.

  4. MAJORLESS students are allowed a maximum of two courses during a summer semester (or 6 credits) which will be selected to suit the “New Major

  5. The Courses that a student will register for during the MAJORLESS semester will be chosen and recommended by the chairperson of the “New Major”. (MAJORLESS Registration Form​)

  6. By the end of the MAJORLESS semester, a students need to fill in a Petition Form requesting admission to the “New Major”.

  7. A student may plan to reapply for admission to the “Old Major” after a minimum duration of two semesters: one semester as MAJORLESS and a second semester in the “New Major”.

  8. The Department of the new intended major [“New Major”] reserves the right for the admission of the student following the conclusion of the MAJORLESS semester.

  9. The Department of the previous major [“Old Major”] reserves the right for the re-admission of the student following the conclusion of the MAJORLESS condition. That is after being admitted for one semester in the “New Major”.
