RAWABET – LAZOS

An Academic & Cultural Program at UOB for Spanish-Speaking Youth

Rawabet–Lazos is a cultural program that aims at creating a link between Spanish-speaking youth, and the oriental culture.

  Basic Concept
The program addresses:
Young   people with ancestral links to the region who wish to visit these countries and experience their culture and religion.
Spanish-speaking youth who wish to know the Middle-East and discover the culture in the area for a better understanding of their studies.
Islamic science students who are interested in Christian-Muslim coexistence.

Purpose
The University Of Balamand grew out of the Orthodox tradition, and is open to the world, especially to countries where Lebanese emigrants live and thrive. UOB is also committed to promoting Christian-Muslim dialogue and believes in tolerance and understanding between religions and nations.

Accordingly Rawabet-Lazos has been conceived to fulfill the following purposes:
• To allow the emigrant descendants to (re)discover their ancestors’ homeland under the guidance of experts and specially trained people.
• To enrich and challenge the UOB faculty and students with the presence of foreign students willing to know more about the local culture.

By the end of this program, the participants are expected to:
• Know different aspects of Lebanon and the region.
• Interact better with each other and with the local environment.
• Get acquainted with life at UOB.
