Dana Khairallah, a Graduate student in Nutritional Sciences, currently pursuing a minor in Public Health and Development Sciences at the University of Balamand (FHS), was elected as one of the well esteemed SDG Ambassadors for the upcoming year 2022-2023.

The SDG Brain Lab is an accelerator program launched by the United Nations Global Compact Network Lebanon (UN GCNL), that aims at enabling and nurturing the change-makers of tomorrow and empowering the Lebanese youth between 18 and 24 years old in advancing the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the UN 2030 Agenda on a national scale.

A total of 281 students were selected from eight different Lebanese universities, including the University of Balamand, to participate in the 7-month program under 3 main hubs; Training Hub, Brain Hub, and Data Hub.

After showcasing commitment, engagement, leadership, interest in sustainability, and willingness for change, 15 participants stood out due to their outstanding work ethic and were appointed as SDG Ambassadors for the next academic year 2022- 2023 to represent change in their universities and their immediate environment. The ambassadors were appointed during the closing ceremony and their mandate was read out loud.

During her time as an ambassador for GCNL and UOB, Dana will receive extensive training on the UN 2030 Agenda in order to become an effective voice for change and support local communities in contributing to the greater good. This goal would be achieved by attending a series of events and webinars, where she would be given the opportunity to speak and spread the word about the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

Dana will be closely collaborating with the university’s program focal points, Mrs. Diala Farah (Director- Career Services Center) and Dr. Nivine Abbas (Faculty Member- Public Health Department- Faculty of Health Sciences).
