The "Lectionary Gospels" are a special category of Arabic Biblical manuscript that contains the texts of the four Gospels in a liturgical format for use in Eastern Christian worship services. These manuscripts stand out from other kinds of Biblical manuscripts thanks to several unique characteristics. While the Arabic manuscripts of the Gospels have received lately a considerable amount of attention from scholars, those connected to the Lectionary Gospels have received less research and have not yet been fully uncovered. This paper aims at drawing attention to the distinctive features of the Arabic Lectionary Gospels corpus to highlight its importance, diversity, and richness. This corpus will be presented and analyzed based on PAVONe, the Platform of the Arabic Versions of the New Testament.
The wide variety of Vorlagen, theological richness and diversity, as well as intercultural components, are just a few of the topics that will be highlighted. The lectionary's interreligious nature will receive particular attention in the context of its use in Christian-Muslim relations.
