Capacity Building
The GIS Center offers a variety of training packages both online and in-person that are tailored to the requirements of the client. The training combines a comprehensive foundation in geosciences with hands-on experience in the latest GIS technologies.

GIS Consultation

GIS Database Design and Development Services
Designing efficient GIS databases and data integration programs meeting users’ GIS applications, and business and future needs.
Data Creation:
• Digitizing/Conversion of spatial and associated attribute data from existing systems or various Analog or Digital sources (maps, satellite imagery, aerial photos etc.) to prepare GIS Databases.
• Convert data from one system to another, either for online data sharing or complete migration.
Field Surveying & Data Collection:
• Topographic Surveying and mapping to prepare a spatial database.
• Field data collection to update and upgrade the Central Data Repository.
Street Addressing and House Numbering:
Following international standards, the GIS Center customized a street addressing and house numbering system that best fit the specificity of the Lebanese rural areas.
Emergency Management
The GIS Center played an important role in disaster management such as mitigation (modelling hazards and vulnerability), preparedness (formulating emergency response and evacuation plans), response (executing such plans), and recovery (assessing damages, rebuilding, preventing recurrence, and educating the public).
The GIS Center contributed to establishing and capacitating many GIS Crisis Management Units in various regions.
It also supported the Lebanese Red Cross Disaster Risk in North Lebanon is developing a GIS for crisis preparedness by providing training and building application.
The GIS Center also works in flood hazard mapping and earthquake simulation and climate change analysis.
Geostatistical Analysis
The GIS Center has a long-standing experience in survey development, conducting field data collection from census to Local Economic Development, and infrastructure.
In addition to quality assurance and quality control, the GIS Center generates insights from the collected data using infographics, maps, and storymaps.
Geostatistics adds the dimension of the ‘where’ to statistical data.
Hence, it facilitates spatial exploratory data analysis, provides a spatial context for interpolation and conditional simulation, as well as provides easy-to-use and effective tools for data display and visualization.
Visualizing location-based statistics provides a better context to decision-makers over spreadsheets and charts.
