All active UOB students, faculty and staff can borrow materials from the library.
The student must appear in-person and present a valid UOB ID card to check out books
or other materials. No student may borrow on behalf of another.
Upon the request of the circulation desk assistant, faculty and staff members might
be asked to show an ID card to check out library materials.
Faculty members can authorize an assistant to borrow on their behalf by sending
an email to the circulation desk.
A library user is held responsible for all library materials borrowed under his
name and therefore shall not transfer or lend borrowed items to others.
Borrowing Procedure:
Once you retrieve the items you want to borrow from the stacks, head to the circulation
desk to check-out the materials.

- The above loan periods are valid only for items with loan category set to "Standard
Loan".
- Items with loan category set to "Short Loan" are lent on hourly basis.
The loan period of those items is a 2 hour duration or overnight, i.e. from 2:30
p.m. till 8:30 a.m.
- Items with loan category set to "Building Use" are strictly used within
the library premises.
- Items with loan status set to "In Cataloging" are in process, you can
request a rush processing if the item in question is highly needed.
Laptops can be borrowed for 2 hours and are strictly used within the library premises.
Summer Borrowing Policy:
It is allowed for junior, senior, graduate and postgraduate students to borrow library materials during the summer term even if they are not registered in it.
Whereas; freshman and sophomore students don't have this privilege, they can use library materials in the library premises only.
Renewals (for standard loan items only):
On loan items may be renewed only if they are not overdue or reserved by another
user.

Users can renew items online, by phone or via email for one time.
The second renewal should be done physically at the Library.
Note: Part timers are requested to return all their books by the end of every semester.
Reservations:
In case an item is needed and it is not available (i.e. on loan to another user),
a reservation may be placed at the circulation desk or online via the library catalog.
Charges:
An ascending charge of 25000 L.L. per item per day is charged on each “standard loan” item
that is not returned or renewed on time.
An ascending charge of 25000 L.L. per item per hour is charged on each “short loan” item
that is not returned on time.
If the item was not returned, the user will have to pay the accumulated charges
plus the replacement cost of the item.
Failure to pay overdue charges and/or replacement fees will result in the blocking
of library borrowing privileges and the university clearance form will not be signed
until payment is settled and all checked out items are returned to the library.
