​Dr. Oraib Al-Ketan, a distinguished Research Scientist in the Core Technology Platform at New York University Abu Dhabi (NYUAD), took center stage during the Engineering Week at the University of Balamand (UOB). He captivated audiences with his expertise in additive manufacturing and delivered a seminar on the technological and societal impacts of 3D printing. This event was organized by the American Society of Mechanical Engineering (ASME), UOB Student Branch under the mentorship of Dr. Macole Sabat (Assistant Professor at the Mechanical Engineering Department), with the support of the Faculty of Engineering and the Office of Student Affairs.


 


Dr. Oraib Al-Ketan is a renowned researcher specializing in additive manufacturing, commonly known as 3D printing. Currently leading the Advanced Manufacturing Center within the Core Technology Platform at NYUAD, he was honored with the prestigious Abdul Hameed Shoman Award for Arab Researchers in 2023 for his significant contribution to the field.



Alongside the enlightening seminar, each participant received a unique keepsake—a 3D-printed keychain meticulously crafted in the Mechanical Engineering Laboratory of the Faculty of Engineering at UOB. These keychains not only express gratitude for participation but also serve as tangible examples of the remarkable capabilities of 3D printing technology.



Vice President for Internationalization and Engagement and Dean of the Faculty of Engineering Professor Rami Abboud expressed sincere gratitude to Dr. Al-Ketan for his invaluable contribution to the Engineering Week, emphasizing the importance of such collaborations in fostering innovation, research and knowledge exchange within the engineering community at UOB.
