The University of Balamand (UOB) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Order of Pharmacists of Lebanon. The MoU was signed by UOB President, Dr. Elias Warrak and President of the Order of Pharmacists, Dr. Joe Salloum on September 12, 2024, at the university’s main campus in Koura. The signing was also attended by the Vice President of the Order of Pharmacists Dr. AbdelRahman Merkbawi, members of the Order of Pharmacists in Lebanon Dr. Ayman Alam El Din and Dr. Ziad El Hajj Chehade, UOB Provost Dr. George Bahr, and Vice President for Enrollment Management and Alumni Relations Dr. Salim Kanaan.

This collaboration underscores the shared vision of UOB and the Order of Pharmacists to raise academic standards for pharmacists and their families. UOB is dedicated to using its resources to meet the future educational needs of pharmacists and their families, seeking academic pursuits at the university across various accredited disciplines. This initiative aligns with the university's national educational mission in Lebanon.

On this occasion, President Salloum expressed: "This partnership with UOB reflects our shared belief in this nation and the importance of staying rooted in its land, fostering coexistence, and strengthening unity among different religious communities. The university is a leader in these efforts, embodying a spiritual, national, and educational mission. It is a true partner with whom we work to serve Lebanon and its people."

Dr. Warrak stated: "The syndicate and the university are united in their approach and national awareness, guided by a deep moral and spiritual commitment to our country." He added: "The purpose of these agreements goes beyond just offering financial support to students and their families. It’s about emphasizing that Lebanon’s future and the improvement of its current situation rely on advancing our higher education sector."

Both President Warrak and President Saloum agreed that the cooperation between the university and professional syndicates is essential to changing the current state of the country. The attendees also discussed matters related to the education and healthcare sectors.
