Dr. Imad Zakhem, from the Computer Science Department at the University of Balamand, was received by the Digital Systems Department at the University of Piraeus in Greece, for a 5-day academic visit within the scope of the ERASMUS+ mobility program.

The seminars given by Dr. Zakhem tackled various topics concerning the Internet of Things (IOT) and related future trends, as well as the components of an IOT project and the different IOT platforms.
The seminars also underlined the communications protocols (RFID, NFC, LTE, 5G), the Cloud - IOT interactions (AWS example), and the added business value in different domains (Healthcare, Agriculture, Smart homes, Smart cities, Environmental monitoring, Energy management).

Coupled with the seminars, a hands-on experiment was presented and put into action to help students grasp complex concepts.

During his stay, Dr. Zakhem had meetings with professors from the host department with the objective of establishing auspicious collaborations between the University of Balamand and the University of Piraeus in Greece.
