Fire breakouts in Lebanon

The Land and Natural Resources Program at the Institute of Environment and the Ministry of Environment in Lebanon have disclosed the results of a study highlighting the percentage of fire breakouts in Lebanon during the summer of 2022 and the ensuing damage to lands, forests, and trees.

The study reveals a significant decrease in the number of fires and the total number of burned areas in Lebanon; 91.7% lower than the average for prior years.

This year’s stirring results couldn’t be attained without the day to day follow-up efforts of the Ministry of Environment and the collaborative efforts of all parties involved, including: Ministries, the army, civil defence, the disaster risk management unit, municipalities, first responder teams all over Lebanon, nature reserve committees, academic and research centers, environmental associations and organizations.
