Digital Humanities Workshop at UOB

The Digital Humanities Center (DHC) at the University of Balamand, in collaboration with the Orient Institute Beirut (OIB), organized a two-day workshop on Digital Humanities: Concepts and Applications that was held on February 15-16, 2023. The workshop aimed to foster collaboration and knowledge-sharing between the DHC and the OIB. The primary objective was to showcase the expertise and know-how developed by both teams through their ongoing research projects.

The workshop was designed to highlight the diverse range of topics being studied, with the aim of promoting cross-disciplinary discussion and exploring potential avenues for future research.

The goal was to establish a forum for intellectual exchange and to improve comprehension of the topics being addressed by the teams involved. To achieve this, scholars from various backgrounds and fields of expertise, such as Arabic and Islamic studies, history, religious studies, artificial intelligence, architecture, sociology, and digital cultural heritage, were brought together.

The workshop included engaging presentations, discussions and hands-on sessions that focused on the Digital Humanities approach to studying the text reuse of the gospels in ancient Arabic Literature, with a particular focus on Christian-Muslim relations.

It also highlighted the significance of digital cultural heritage and the role it plays in preserving and promoting cultural and religious heritage for future generations.
