The Issam Fares Faculty of Technology at the University of Balamand UOB arranged a lecture titled "Tackling Engineering Construction Challenges Arising from the Devastating Earthquake in Turkey and Strategies for Risk Mitigation" on February 13th at UOB Souk el Ghareb campus, presented by Dr. Milad al Khatib, assistant professor in the civil engineering department at UOB.

Dr. Wahib Arairo, Chairman of the Civil and Construction Technology Department, initiated the event with a welcoming address, setting the stage for an insightful discussion. Key topics explored during the lecture included the identification of structural and nonstructural factors influencing building stability during earthquakes, an examination of the damage inflicted by the recent earthquake in Turkey, and an exploration of preventive measures and strategies for earthquake resilience.
