UOB Students Participated in RAWMEC 2024

Students from the University of Balamand, Issam Fares Faculty of Technology, Souk El Ghareb Campus, participated in RAWMEC 2024 (Recycling and Waste Management Exhibitions and Conferences) held at the Hilton Metropolitan Palace in Beirut from June 26 to 28, 2024. The event was opened by Lebanon's Minister of Environment, Dr. Nasser Yassin, and focused on promoting sustainability in Lebanon.

RAWMEC is Lebanon’s biggest recycling and waste management event, part of Lebanon Sustainability Week. It brought together leaders, experts, innovators, private sector representatives, investors, and academics.

Essam Said, and Janine Shayya members of the student chapter of the Lebanon Green Building Council (LebanonGBC), with their advisor Dr. Wahib Arairo represented their group at stand B216. Their involvement showed the commitment of LebanonGBC and the university to environmental sustainability, with LebanonGBC strongly supporting the event and promoting sustainable building practices and environmental care.

The event included discussions, technology showcases, and networking opportunities to encourage collaboration and practical outcomes in sustainability. Initiatives like RAWMEC demonstrate Lebanon’s active efforts to build a greener future.
