Dr. Wassim El Hawly Earns PhD in Sports Science

Wassim El Hawly has successfully completed his PhD in Sports Science, exploring the effect of sprint practice on bone mineral density in men. Dr. Rawad El Hage, Faculty of Arts and Sciences Professor at the University of Balamand, and Dr. Gautier Zunquin from University of Pau and the Adour Region supervised the dissertation.

Wassim's research led to the publication of four papers. Professor El Hage expressed pride in the results, emphasizing the positive effects of sprint practice on bone mineral density and physical performance parameters.

In summary, the current thesis suggests that sprinters have higher lumbar spine and hip bone mineral density compared to active men. Furthermore, our results showed that former sprinting practice is associated with greater bone mass in middle-aged men.
