UOB Students Shine at ACPC 2024

University of Balamand (UOB) students achieved great success at the Africa and Arab Collegiate Programming Championship (ACPC), one of the oldest and most respected programming competitions in the region. In October 2024, UOB’s Souk el Gharb (SEG) team earned a spot at the ACPC by finishing in 2nd place at the Lebanese Collegiate Programming Contest (LCPC), where they competed against teams from various Lebanese universities. This impressive result led them to the ACPC 2024, held in Egypt from December 5 to 11, 2024.

At the ACPC, the SEG team—Amir Bou Ghanem, Mahmoud Yaman Seraj Alddin, and Wassim Al Haraki—competed against 133 top teams from Africa and the Arab world. They performed exceptionally well, securing a bronze medal by finishing in 9th place.

Since its inception in 1997, the ACPC has provided students with the opportunity to showcase their programming and problem-solving skills, opening doors to global tech careers.

Thanks to their success, the UOB team now has the chance to compete in the ICPC 2025 World Finals, marking a major milestone in their programming journey.
