Dr. Hilda Ghadieh Selected as TWAS Young Affiliate for 2024–2029

Dr. Hilda Ghadieh, an assistant professor at the Faculty of Medicine and Medical Sciences at the University of Balamand, has been selected as one of the four distinguished young scientists chosen by TWAS-AREP (The World Academy of Sciences, Arab Regional Office) as a TWAS Young Affiliate for the period 2024–2029.

Each year, The World Academy of Sciences (TWAS) selects up to 25 young scientists under the age of 40 from developing countries. These researchers are recognized for their potential to make a major impact in their fields. The award highlights Ghadieh’s significant contributions to medical research, particularly in her field of expertise, and positions her as a representative of the Arab region.

Dr. Sami Azar, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Medical Sciences, congratulated Dr. Ghadieh on her achievement, saying, “Dr. Ghadieh’s selection as a TWAS Young Affiliate reflects her hard work and significant contributions to medical research. This recognition not only celebrates her success but also highlights the important research happening at our faculty. We are very proud to have her as part of our academic community.”

During her six-year tenure as a Young Affiliate, Ghadieh will have opportunities to build networks with other prominent scientists, attend global conferences, and engage in collaborative research. The program is designed to foster scientific exchange and mentorship, connecting affiliates with TWAS Fellows and providing them with the platform to further develop their careers on an international scale.
