UOB Hosts Lecture on the Impact of AI in Graphic Design

On March 11, 2025, the Académie Libanaise des Beaux-Arts (ALBA) at the Koura campus organized a lecture titled "Impact of AI on Graphic Design". The session was led by Ms. Josiane El Hawi, a Gen AI Prompting Expert, who provided valuable insights into how artificial intelligence is transforming the field of graphic design.

During her lecture, Ms. El Hawi gave a brief explanation of artificial intelligence (AI) and its applications in graphic design. She explored the impact of AI on design workflows and creativity, and discussed how the role of designers is evolving in this new era of technology. The session also included a hands-on activity where she created an AI-generated logo, and tackled important topics such as AI design ethics.

In her talk, Ms. El Hawi highlighted a major shift in the creative process, saying, "In the past, a significant portion of creative work involved technical skills like drawing, editing, rendering, or animating, which required years of training and practice. Now, AI tools like DALL-E, Midjourney, and Stable Diffusion handle the heavy lifting of execution, allowing creators to focus on what truly matters: ideas and communication."

The lecture provided a unique opportunity for students and professionals to understand the growing intersection of technology and creativity in the design world.
