Dr. Dorine Nasr Participates in the International Conference at Harvard

Dr. Dorine Nasr, an instructor at the Faculty of Arts and Sciences, Department of Languages and Translation, took part in the International Conference on New Horizons in Linguistics, Translation, Literature, and Education, held at Harvard University on 3 and 4 February 2025. The conference brought together scholars and academics from around the world to discuss important topics in linguistics, translation, literature, and education.

Dr. Nasr presented a paper with her colleague, Dr. Nermine Merhye, titled "Shock in Contemporary Arab Poetry: Maghout and Darwish as Models." Their presentation focused on how shock plays a key role in shaping the poetry of two well-known Arab poets, Mohammed al-Maghout and Mahmoud Darwish. They discussed how these poets used shock to challenge societal norms and explore deep emotional and political issues in the Arab world.
